Alternanthera is one of the most colorful genera among aquarium plants. With intense red and violet tones , pointed leaves, and an upright growth habit, it brings vibrant contrasts to the aquarium—especially in aquascapes or as an eye-catcher in the midground.

Most species prefer strong lighting , good nutrient supply, and CO₂ supplementation to display their full color and compact form. Popular varieties such as Alternanthera reineckii 'Mini' , 'Rosaefolia' , or 'Purple' are often used as a splash of color among green vegetation.
