Microsorum pteropus XL, commonly known as Java fern, is one of the most sought-after fern species in aquaristics and is widely distributed in tropical regions of Asia. This plant displays a variety of leaf shapes and sizes and is known for its undemanding care. The optimal arrangement of the rhizomes occurs by anchoring to rocks or driftwood. It thrives under low to medium lighting, but also grows well under intense illumination. Older leaves can develop small plantlets that can be easily separated and secured in other locations within the aquarium using thin fishing line.
