Hydrocotyle verticillata
Hydrocotyle verticillata is an attractive water pennywort that stands out visually due to its umbrella-shaped leaves. This plant is suitable for the foreground to midground in aquariums. Compared to H. leucocephala and H. tripartita, it grows more slowly. The preferred water temperature is on the cooler side. In its natural habitats, such as the Rio Sucuri in Brazil, it has been observed at water temperatures of around 23°C in crystal-clear water with high CO2 concentrations. It integrates harmoniously into aquarium landscapes, particularly amidst Hemianthus carpets, from which its small, umbrella-like leaves emerge.
