Helanthium bolivianum (Latifolius / Xingu) belongs to the genus Helanthium and is known under the former name Echinodorus bolivianus. This plant tends to produce runners and is often used in the foreground of medium to large aquariums. It quickly develops a compact carpet of numerous lanceolate leaves. In the crystal-clear waters of the Rio Sucuri in Brazil, strikingly red-colored variations occur, influenced by intense sunlight on the shallow water.
