Echinodorus 'Osiris' (Rubra)
Echinodorus 'Osiris' (Rubra) is a sword plant native to the rivers of South Brazil. It prefers subtropical climate conditions with cool winters. It is believed to be a natural hybrid, with Echinodorus uruguayensis as one of its parent species. This aquarium plant was introduced in the 1960s and was one of the first sword plants to exhibit striking reddish leaves, long before the first Echinodorus hybrids with red coloration were bred. The name of the plant refers to the Brazilian nursery 'Lotus Osiris', where it was named in 1970.
